Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in CT Tech, preferably in an acute care hospital setting
- Experience with performing venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines
- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Strong technical skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with patients, family, and healthcare team members
- Required certifications: Active American Registry of Radiology Technologist (A.R.R.T.) certification, Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum Required Education: Associate Degree of Radiology (Bachelor's preferred)
- Required Licensure: Active and current New Jersey State License NJDEP Radiologic Technologist
- Languages: English (Speak, Read, Write)
Additional Information
The Cat Scan Technologist (CT Tech) will be responsible for performing Cat Scan diagnostic imaging and Cat Scan interventional procedures on adult and pediatric patients. Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Prepare patients for scanning
- Determine appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered
- Provide accurate explanations and instructions
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines
- Monitor the patient's physical condition for any adverse reactions during the procedure
- Using computerized tomography equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients' internal organs and tissues
- Appropriately positioning patients to scan specific areas of their bodies
- Performing regular warm-up sequences on the CT scanner to prolong the life of the X-ray tubes
- Sterilizing radiologic equipment to ensure the safety of patients
- Correctly interpreting doctors' written scanning instructions
- Administering radiocontrast agents to enhance the visibility of internal organs and tissues
- Evaluating CT scans to determine whether they are of good technical quality
- Explaining scanning procedures to patients and providing reassurance and support as required
- Performing any and all other duties as assigned
